This article is a straight to the point reason why renewable energy must replace non renewable energy as soon as possible in Nigeria.
Both Renewable energy and Non-renewable can be used in the production of electricity a most valuable commodity in the 21st century. Renewable sources include wind power, solar power hydro power while Non Renewable sources include uranium, propane and fossil fuels (oil, gas, and coal).
The use of Non renewable sources in the Production of electricity leads to a series of reactions including a depletion in the ozone layer(hence the effects of climate change), a disruption in the ecosystem, catastrophic floods as a result of a rise in sea levels due to the heat trapped by green house gasses in the atmosphere, acid rain (as a result of sulfur dioxide emitted when burning coal), unusual boost in the temperature and heat waves.
Renewable sources of energy however are eco-friendly, and are unlimited. Costs for tapping renewable energies are decreasing as the technology advances and, once established, maintenance costs are generally low. The use of trained technicians to maintain the equipment, means renewable energy plants have the potential to generate more jobs than highly mechanized fossil fuel plants.
